Qualifications

  • Equivalent combination of 2.5 years of education and work experience after high school.
  • Education and experience must be in radio engineering, installation or maintenance, electronics, communications or related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong understanding of RF principles and telecommunications standards.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to tower work and electrical systems.
  • Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Effective communication and documentation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and perform installation, maintenance and repair of NH DOT radio transmitting/receiving equipment.
  • Install mountain-top radio repeater stations; conduct site surveys, order materials, oversee tower installation, and test performance.
  • Recalibrate and maintain mountain-top repeaters to ensure reliability and longevity.
  • Operate test instruments (Bird Wattmeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators) to diagnose faults.
  • Maintain inventories and track equipment locations across NH DOT radio assets.
  • Develop and manage vehicle radio removal/installation schedules with NH DOT agencies.
