Job summary

National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Socorro, NM, seeks an

Administrative Assistant for Zone Regulatory Services to support RF spectrum management in the NMRCZ, coordinate transmitter installations, verify specifications, and maintain the application database. The role interfaces with engineers and staff in the NM Interference Protection Group and requires attention to regulatory details.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent in administration, management, or engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of related administrative experience with data intake, recording and management.
• Ability to learn propagation modeling software; familiarity with FCC rules is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate RF transmitter installation requests impacting the NMRCZ.
• Verify technical equipment specifications for accuracy.
• Maintain application database and generate searchable reports.
• Analyze existing frequencies for compatibility within NMRCZ.
• Use RF interference data to classify sources and propose mitigations.
