Job description

System Engineer II / RF Field Technician

Location: Northern region (Cadillac, Traverse City, Clare, etc.) Michigan – requires travel.

Duration: 6+ month contract (possible extension).

Department Overview

• Team of 4 field technicians & 4 engineers.
• Focus area: wireless connectivity in IT.
• Handles multiple wireless solutions: radio, land, mobile, cellular modems, Starlink, dispatch for radio, cellular boosters, satellite technologies.
• Majority of work involves radio systems installed/maintained across fleet vehicles, including microwave technologies.
• Land Mobile Radio – 50%
• Cellular Modems & BDA’s – 50%

Responsibilities

• Work includes land mobile radio (50%) and cellular modems & BDA's (50%).
• On‑call rotation: 1 week on / 3 weeks off (eligible for OT/on‑call pay).
• Respond to tickets for malfunctioning radios; troubleshoot, repair or replace devices in the field.
• Install new equipment as part of lifecycle management for fleet vehicles.
• Support independent or team‑based installations (not responsible for design).
• Install new radios into fleet vehicles.

Skills

• RF/Radio experience – understand RF technology, troubleshoot issues, apply radio system knowledge.
