Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in the Baltimore/Washington area is seeking a DSP/FPGA engineer to design and deliver RF communication systems built around software defined radios. You will architect embedded DSP/FPGA solutions and implement high-speed signal processing in HDL from MATLAB designs, verifying with simulations on Xilinx platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of software development experience with proficiency in VHDL or Verilog, FPGA tools (e.g. Xilinx Vivado) and simulation tools (e.g. ModelSim).
  • Experience using GitLab for build automation and CI/CD.
  • Must be able to obtain Secret level security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Take a sophisticated signal processing algorithm developed in Matlab and implement in HDL, verify in simulation, and integrate on FPGAs.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers on development of signal processing algorithms for wireless communication systems.
  • Support integration, field testing, debugging, and troubleshooting under tight deadlines.
  • Engage with sponsors to understand and tackle their toughest problems.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
