Job summary

Zohorecruit is seeking a Council Tax Officer to determine tax liabilities in line with current laws and case law, while maintaining knowledge of pertinent acts and exemptions. You will assess discounts, exemptions, and gather information to explain decisions to the public and their representatives via email, letters, and phone calls.

The role requires at least 3 years of Revenues experience and a solid understanding of local government finance principles.

Qualifications

• 3+ years Revenues experience or equivalent in tax/finance.
• Knowledge of local government financing principles and case law is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine Council Tax liability in accordance with relevant primary legislation and case law.
• Maintain working knowledge of the Local Government Finance Act 1992 and applicable case law.
• Determine and award discounts and exemptions per legislation and case law.
• Gather information, explain decisions, and advise the public and their representatives by email, letter, and telephone.
