Job summary

Covenant Transport, Inc. is seeking a Revenue Staff Accountant to maintain general ledger transactions related to revenue and support financial statement integrity. You will produce monthly revenue entries, analyze data, and prepare audit schedules while collaborating with management on pricing and internal controls.

The role requires a accounting/finance degree, and CPA is preferred. Experience in revenue accounting and prepared budgets supports improved financial performance across teams.

• One year of relevant experience; substitutions allowed for each year of education.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting and internal controls.

Job description

The Revenue Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger transactions as related to revenue. This position provides support in creating and maintaining integrity in the company’s financial statements as well as analytical reviews to support financial improvement.

Responsibilities

Completion of monthly revenue journal entries adhering to the monthly financial deadlines.Reconcile and certify journals, accounts and tasks in the Blackline Accounting system as assigned.Analytical review of revenue in the financial statements compared to operational revenue reporting.Preparation of monthly and quarterly revenue audit schedules.Analyze, research, consolidate and interpret financial data as it relates to revenue, prepare detailed reports, variance analyses, and presentations for review by all levels of management that are revenue related. Completion of quarterly random revenue audits to ensure adherence to controls.Assisting with revenue allocations as needed.Development of pricing models for contract amendments and new business.Assist with internal and external audit for proper documentation of internal controls and adherence to policies and procedures around revenue. Prepare audit schedules as assigned.Prepare pricing models with rates for new business by fixed variable, hourly, or bid templates with more in-depth pricing structures and assumptions.Prepare pricing models for existing customer business as requested for pricing increases and renewalsUpdating pricing model template with inflationary items.Assists with training new sales team members and engineers on pricing model inputs.Leads weekly pricing calls.Provide detailed summaries for sales and ops for pricing increases based on cost summary comparisons and per mile increases broken down by major category.Prepare Dedicated Customer level budget according to budget timelines.Collaborate with Account Managers and Directors to collect all their data for the budget.Review fuel scales and current contracts to ensure accurate Budgets/Pricing model.Reviewing and evaluate final budgets with Directors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of Microsoft suite. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have a strong attention to detail. Quick learner and strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work individually and in a team environment. Ability to manage time appropriately and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or Finance, or similar field required. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of education required. CPA preferred. Experience in financial accounting preferred.
