Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama seeks a Revenue Integrity Specialist to optimize billing practices across our enterprise, collaborating with clinical departments, Revenue Cycle, HIM, and IT.

You will perform advanced edits, charge capture, coding validation, and pre-bill reviews, educate staff on documentation and coding standards, and identify trends to support accurate reimbursement and sustainable revenue.

Qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC/COC/CIC, AAPC or other coding credentials required.
• HFMA CRCS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate CPT/HCPCS documentation for patient billing.
• Perform coding validation and charge capture reviews.
• Conduct pre-bill edits (OCE/CCI, DNFB) and identify charge deficiencies.
• Educate clinical staff on documentation and coding to optimize revenue.
• Provide feedback to Revenue Integrity teams on opportunities and trends.
• Code and validate charges for complex service lines with advanced proficiency.
• Support cross-department collaboration to improve revenue cycle performance.
• Analyze trends in clinical and billing data to identify issues.
• Work with care sites to ensure charges are captured and reconciled.
