Job summary

Healthy Connect San Diego is seeking a Revenue Cycle Supervisor to oversee Billing Specialists and Medical Record Specialists, ensuring accurate and timely billing and adherence to documentation standards.

This exempt, salaried role offers 19 days PTO per year, 12 paid holidays, free CEUs and training, and a monthly $100 student loan repayment benefit, along with robust medical and life insurance options. RHIA certification is preferred; a 4-year degree in Accounting is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • RHIA certification preferred
  • Five years of progressive experience in medical billing
  • Two years of experience leading a billing team preferred
  • Solid understanding of Medi-Cal insurance coding
  • Ability to read medical documentation and coding
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard processes
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility in managing multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with collaboration ability
  • Ability to work independently with problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency with EHR billing functionality (SmartCare)
  • Proficient Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot Tables)
  • Ability to navigate stairs in two-story building

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight of Billing Specialists and Medical Record Specialists.
  • Oversees daily billing processes at program level to ensure documentation requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces policies to avoid billing errors, fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Manages program billing audit procedures to ensure accuracy in coding and timely corrections.
  • Continuously assesses billing workflows and recommends process improvements.
  • Develops and prepares management reports with analyses and recommendations.
  • Hires, manages, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff; motivates to meet objectives.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Oversees PTO, holidays, and training opportunities; supports professional development.
  • Supports alternative benefits including loan repayment and flexible spending options
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

Job description

Hours: This is an exempt, salaried position. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

As a Revenue Cycle Supervisor, you will:
  • Provides oversight of Billing Specialists and Medical Record Specialists.
  • Provide oversight of daily billing processes performed at program level to ensure compliance with all established documentation requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to ensure avoidance of billing errors, fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Manage program billing audit procedures to ensure accuracy in coding. Ensure all documentation is reviewed and that billing errors are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Continuously assess billing workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased operational efficiency. Recommend changes when necessary and direct/assist in implementation of new processes.
  • Develop and prepare management reports; provide analysis and make recommendations for areas of improvement.
  • Hire, manage, train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, including establishing work standards and expectations; e ffectively motivate staff to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Current Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification preferred.

  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Record billing functionality, preferably SmartCare.
  • Proficient computer skills, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills (V-Lookup and Pivot Tables)
  • This program is housed in a two-story building that does have an elevator; however, ability to navigate stairs may be required
  • A valid California driver's license in good standing, personal vehicle, proof of insurance and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position
  • Able to pass criminal/background clearance

Under direction, this position is responsible for leading and managing organization-wide program servicesbilling operations to ensure accurate and timely billing through planning, organizing, and overseeing theactivities of billing staff.
