We are seeking an experienced Revenue Cycle Manager to lead and optimize all aspects of the revenue cycle for a fast-paced retina practice. This role is responsible for ensuring financial performance through effective management of billing, coding, collections, payer relations, and compliance.
The ideal candidate brings strong ophthalmology/retina experience, a deep understanding of payer rules, and a proactive, data-driven approach to revenue cycle performance.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Cycle Oversight
- Manage end-to-end revenue cycle operations including charge capture, coding, claim submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up
- Monitor KPIs such as days in A/R, denial rates, collection rates, and net revenue performance
- Implement workflows to improve cash flow and reduce revenue leakage
- Ensure accurate coding for retina and ophthalmology services (including surgical and in-office procedures)
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations
- Oversee and perform internal audits and coordinate external audits as needed
Denial Management & Collections
- Lead denial management strategy, including root cause analysis and corrective action plans
- Optimize processes for timely follow-up on outstanding claims and patient balances
- Collaborate with front office to improve eligibility, authorizations, and point-of-service collections
- Supervise billing, coding, and A/R staff
- Provide training, performance management, and ongoing development
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Reporting & Analytics
- Prepare and present monthly financial and operational reports
- Analyze trends and identify opportunities for revenue growth and process improvement
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
Qualifications
Required:
- Revenue cycle management experience in healthcare
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding, and reimbursement methodologies
- Experience with EHR/PM systems (e.g., ModMed, NextGen, Epic, or similar)
Preferred:
- Experience in ophthalmology or retina specialty practice
- Certification such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CPB, or CRCR and/or OCS/OCSR
- Familiarity with retina-specific procedures (e.g., injections, OCT, laser, vitrectomy billing)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy
