Job summary

HealthPartners is seeking a Revenue Cycle Coding Specialist to abstract and enter charges for services across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and other facilities. The role requires coding accuracy, knowledge of CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 CM, and compliance with payer regulations.

The ideal candidate will hold a coding certification (CCA/COC/CCS/CPC/CCS-P/RHIT/RHIA), have one year of coding experience or equivalent, and be proficient with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a coding education program or HIM degree or equivalent coding experience.
• Must hold an approved coding certification (CCA, COC, CCS, CPC, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA).
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 CM coding guidelines, anatomy and medical terminology; strong Office skills.
• Ability to work independently with effective time management and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Confirms documentation supports clinician charges and assigns accurate CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 CM codes and edits.
• Provides feedback to clinicians on coding trends and chart reviews.
• Handles coding-related denials and retrospective audits.
• Collaborates with Compliance, Internal Audit, and education teams within revenue cycle.
• Supports onboarding of new clinicians and mid-revenue cycle workflows.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
