Datadog is seeking a Technical Escalation Engineer to own usage metering, cost management, and billing visibility. You will resolve complex escalations, collaborate with Product and Finance, and create scalable tools and guides for teams. You’ll influence product direction while delivering measurable cost savings for customers.

The role blends technical depth with customer advocacy in a hybrid work environment, with a focus on observability and cloud cost strategies across Datadog’s platform.

Qualifications

• Curious and detail‑oriented about how usage is measured, attributed, and billed across products, including limits and entitlements.
• Strong grasp of cloud cost drivers, usage attribution, and spend analysis.
• Familiar with cloud billing models and how data is exposed via APIs and exports.

Responsibilities

• Become the expert on usage metering and cost management within Technical Solutions.
• Lead escalations involving usage spikes, billing anomalies, or attribution issues.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Finance to improve visibility and fairness in billing and usage tracking.
• Build internal and customer‑facing guides, tooling, and playbooks for cost management questions.
• Enable the Solutions team by running training and creating scalable resources.
• Surface customer feedback to shape roadmap for usage visibility and cost management.
