Job summary

TRUMPF North America is seeking a Retrofit Project Engineer to lead customer projects from start to finish, coordinating across engineering, product management, and overseas teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of project management experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing, with strong communication and organizational skills, and travel up to 10% within North America.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Technical, or Business-related field.
• 5+ years experience with project management in automotive/industrial manufacturing environment.
• Certifications in Project Management preferred

Responsibilities

• Take over responsibility, process, and execute new customer orders from start to finish
• Address customer inquiries by consulting with a product manager or colleagues
• Supervise overall project progress and milestones, take measures to ensure success
• Conduct kick-off and status update meetings as applicable
• Collaborate with multiple departments locally and overseas, pull in technical experts and commercial support
• Communicate with customers about execution status of project, e.g. delivery
• Calculate project profitability for customer orders
• Maintain overview of large number of simultaneous projects and keep management informed

In this role you will have overall responsibility for executing customer projects and modifying layouts to meet new standards and specifications. Duties & Responsibilities

• Take over responsibility, process, and execute new customer orders from start to finish
• Address customer inquiries appropriately, for example by consulting with a product manager having technical expertise or working with colleagues in Germany
• Supervise the overall project progress & milestones, take necessary measures to ensure success
• Conduct kick-off and status update meetings if applicable
• Collaborate with multiple departments locally and overseas, pull in technical experts and commercial support when useful, e.g. our retrofit teams overseas or our local product managers and application engineers
• Communicate with customers about execution status of project, e.g. regarding delivery
• Calculate project profitability for customer orders
• Maintain good overview of large number of simultaneous projects and keep management informed

Travel

• Routine travel within North America to support customers will be required. Less than 10% anticipated.
• Must maintain Valid Driver’s License
• Occasional overnights as needed

Education & Experience

• Degree in Engineering, Technical, or Business-related field.
• 5+ years experience with project management in automotive or industrial manufacturing environment. Familiarity with machine tools, lasers, and/or laser systems preferred.
• Certifications in Project Management preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
