Overview

The Retro Fit HVAC Installer is responsible for, safely and neatly, removing outdated existing HVAC equipment and installing new more efficient HVAC equipment and accessories in existing homes. The installations must meet rigorous quality standards and pass mechanical code requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform installation of HVAC related equipment following company policies and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Read and understand salesmen notes and confirm installation requirements with homeowners.
  • Prepare home for installation of equipment by protecting surfaces you may come in contact with.
  • Carry out wiring of both low and line voltage to heating and cooling equipment.
  • Perform installation of copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering.
  • Be able to utilize proper hand tools and power tools and make proper judgement calls in determining where and what building materials to modify or cut.
  • Use problem solving skills and make adaptions in order to make new equipment work.
  • Install gas piping and ensure proper "leak free" connections are completed.
  • Determine the right material needed for installation work by pre-measuring jobs.
  • Receive all materials and equipment required for each job, confirming proper materials have been pulled and load into company vehicle.
  • Start-up equipment and make necessary adjustments for long equipment life and efficient operation.
  • Teach homeowners about the function and operation of newly installed equipment.
  • Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure homeowner comfort by the end of the day.
  • Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time.
  • Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and homeowners.
  • Ensure all paperwork needed for each day is accurately filled out.
  • Collect payment and return to office in a responsible manner.
  • Take pride in a quality installation.
  • Maintain a clean, presentable appearance at all times.
  • Stay up to date on the latest innovations in the industry.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Honest and dependable personality.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong ability to follow instructions and work alone, as well as work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to display professional company image.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a physical, drug screening and back ground check.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 80 lbs safely.
  • Must not be objectionable to working in harsh conditions (cold, heat, rain, etc).
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime on occasion.
  • Physically fit with the ability to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, and kneel continually.
