Alerus Financial is a commercial wealth bank and national retirement provider focused on helping clients reach their financial goals. The Compliance Analyst role supports new business activity by creating documents and preparing plan forms, and serves as back-up for Compliance and service teams.

Based in Phoenix, AZ, the role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of technical retirement plan experience with all types of tax-qualified plans and proven proficiency in understanding and applying pension laws and regulations.
• 3-5 years of experience with 401(k) plans; Experience in retirement plan underwriting or new case issuance preferred.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Good written/oral communication, organization, and client service skills required.
• Maintain professional working relationships with internal and external clients.
• Work independently and set priorities.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with client communication related to legislative changes, client specific topics as directed.
• Support new business installation as directed.
• Prepare adoption agreement draft, board resolution, retirement plan service agreement, confirmation of funds, and other agreements and/or documents necessary to establish and define ARB/client responsibilities.
• Participate in annual Administrative Review process. Audit plan provisions, fee setup and plan documentation. Research and resolve exceptions as necessary.
