Job summary

Teachers Retirement System of Illinois is seeking a Benefits Counselor to advise members on pension benefits and retirement options. Under the Lisle Office Manager, you will handle teleconferences, in-person counseling, field conferences and large group presentations, while ensuring accuracy and professional service.

The role requires travel and evening work, along with strong knowledge of the Illinois Pension Code, TRS forms, and TRIP benefits, to support members, annuitants, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide factual information to members regarding benefits and retirement options.
• Conduct teleconferences, in-house counseling sessions, field conferences and group presentations.
• Explain retirement options and consequences under the Illinois Pension Code.
• Use Excel and STAR for processing benefit estimates and data entry.
• Schedule appointments and assist in training new staff.
