Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) certification encouraged but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to adhere to HIPAA compliance regulations.
• Strong computer skills including typing.
• Ability to work well independently and with physicians and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist physician with patients
• Escort patients to and from exam areas (may be required to assist patients with walking, pushing wheelchairs, lifting and transferring)
• Complete and accurately document necessary testing, patient’s health history and medications
• Complete lens prescriptions, medication forms and patient instruction forms
• Screen and document visual acuity findings, glaucoma testing and various other ocular testing
• Provide patient information concerning their eye care
• Perform refractions, to determine patients’ glasses prescriptions
• Communicate with physicians to ensure patient satisfaction
• Other duties as assigned
