Job summary

Vance Thompson Vision Clinic Prof L in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our Retina team. You will triage patients, document medical history, and assist with retina imaging and in-office procedures.

The role emphasizes patient experience, organization, and teamwork within a dynamic clinical setting. AAO home study is preferred and prior patient care is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AAO home-study training preferred.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triaging patients and recording medical history accurately.
• Obtaining chief complaint and performing screening tasks (visual acuity, visual fields, pupil dilation, BP).
• Performing macular OCT imaging and other retinal imaging as needed.
• Preparing exam rooms and patient charts for physicians.
• Assisting with in-office procedures and patient communications.
• Managing calls and resolving questions to support patient satisfaction.
• Maintaining organized exam lanes and clean work areas.
