Job summary

UC San Diego invites applications for a Retention Specialist in TRIO SSS. You will support services designed to increase retention and graduate school admission rates by coordinating workshops, advising, tutoring, and related activities.

You will build relationships with students and campus partners to connect them with academic advising, counseling, financial aid, study management, and tutoring. This role requires collaboration with the TRIO SSS Director and campus departments to design

Qualifications

• Knowledge of counseling, learning, and student development theories.
• Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Education, Ethnic Studies, or related field.
• Ability to connect students to campus resources and provide academic guidance.
• Experience developing and evaluating educational programs in higher education.
• Understanding of policies on student records and confidentiality.
• Experience in event planning and workshop delivery.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork with campus partners.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Proficiency with data collection and reporting for program assessment.
• Experience in outreach and marketing for TRIO programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support design, delivery, advising, counseling, and administration of services.
• Develop materials for training, meetings, events, workshops, and outreach.
• Serve as primary contact for TRIO SSS students and connect to resources.
• Collaborate to develop academic intervention strategies and address at-risk students.
• Review student data to identify trends and implement outreach.
• Work with colleges and Deans to provide counseling and guidance.
• Recruit, train, and supervise student staff; participate in TRIO SSS marketing.
