Job summary

Family Express is seeking an Instructional Designer to own and continually improve our four-day new hire orientation and ongoing training programs. You will craft curriculum, activities, assessments, and pass/fail standards that align with our Living Brand and culture.

You will collaborate with Training Coordinators and operational leaders to develop role-specific modules for Sales Associates, Store Managers, and Field Consultants, ensuring content stays current with policies and technology.

Qualifications

• Experience in instructional design, learning and development, corporate training, or related field.
• Experience developing adult-learning programs, assessments, e-learning, facilitator materials, or hands-on training.
• Training should shape culture and reinforce company values and standards.
• Retail or multi-location environment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Training Coordinators to develop and improve the four-day new hire orientation program, including curriculum, hands-on activities, assessments, and pass/fail standards.
• Create engaging instructor-led, digital, and hands-on learning experiences that translate operational expectations into practical application.
• Develop role-specific training programs and modules for Sales Associates, Store Managers, Field Consultants, and other positions.
• Ensure Family Express culture and Living Brand are incorporated throughout orientation and ongoing development.
• Use the mock-scale convenience store training environment to create realistic learning experiences for store operations and customer interactions.
• Turn processes and business needs into effective training with SMEs and operational leaders.
• Develop assessments and practical exercises that measure knowledge, skill, and job readiness, not just course completion.
• Evaluate and update training based on feedback, performance results, and observations to simplify, modernize, and improve.
