Job summary

Brookfield Properties is seeking a Tenant Coordination Intern in Chicago to support the design and construction phases of tenant projects within our retail portfolio. You will participate in plan reviews, permitting, construction progress, and store openings, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from the Tenant Coordination team.

The role offers cross-functional exposure, with opportunities to impact store openings and learn retail real estate operations in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in college with graduation between Dec 2027 and May 2028, preferably Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to take initiative.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, creative, analytical, and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a team environment.
• Possesses analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents is a plus.
• Knowledge of national building codes, building materials and systems (MEP), and life safety is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Tenant Coordination with daily administrative and project tasks.
• Track design and construction timelines from prospect to store opening.
• Assist with plan submittals, reviews, approvals, lease reviews, permitting, construction progress, and opening coordination.
• Review tenant signage drawings against criteria for coordinator approval.
• Prepare and edit reports, presentations, and research to support business needs.
• Organize, schedule, and manage confidential information and data.
• Other projects as assigned.
