Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and exposure to customer service and product flow.
• Ability to communicate clearly to team members with precise direction.
• Ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions; ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Ability to lead an organization that practices safe work at all times.
• Ability to mentor team members at all levels including SDITs, hourly staff, and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentors and coaches team members to meet customer service and sales goals.
• Implements strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintains store appearance and presentation to Meijer standards during prime shopping hours.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning with career-path opportunities and development needs.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models fast, friendly customer service and communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative.
• Ensures thorough training of the team and that staff complete required training.
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promotes a safe work environment and ensures reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
