Job summary

Meijer is seeking a capable store leader to oversee day-to-day operations, coach and mentor a diverse team, and ensure outstanding customer service and sales performance. You will staffing, train, and guide associates across departments, while upholding company standards and a safe work environment.

This role emphasizes effective communication, conflict resolution, and strategic decision-making to drive results during peak hours and transitions between departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members at various levels.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development needs for team members.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentors and coaches the team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Ensures the team is trained in all job aspects and completes required training.
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
