Job summary

Dollar Tree in Portland, ME is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, deliver exceptional customer service, and develop store associates. You will assist with merchandising, staff scheduling, opening/closing tasks, and inventory control while upholding company standards and safety policies.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and develop others.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked store floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and train/store associates accordingly.
• Support the Store Manager in supervising and developing Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean and presentable, including restocking and cleaning bathrooms.
