Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development at our Fort Wayne, IN location. You will assist with opening/closing, merchandise handling, and daily store activities to ensure a high-quality shopping experience.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and effective supervision of store associates, while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Store management experience in retail/grocery/drug store preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills
• Ability to work in a high-energy team environment
• Customer service, organizational and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling and cash deposits
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure store assets including cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines
• Help Store Manager supervise, train and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors and waste disposal
