Job summary

Dollar Tree in Houston is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, deliver excellent customer service, and develop the team. You will assist with merchandising, scheduling, training, and ensuring compliance with store policies.

Responsibilities include overseeing inventory transfers, opening/closing procedures, loss prevention, and maintaining a clean, safe, inviting store environment for customers and associates alike.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays; ensure store appearance.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean and presentable: bathrooms, floors, trash, and areas neat.
• Other duties as assigned.
