Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks an experienced store leader to manage daily operations, staffing, and customer service at a retail location. You will oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, and policy compliance while guiding a team to deliver strong sales and safe operations.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least one year of retail management experience, with emphasis on cash handling, inventory control, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and procedures.
• Mathematical calculation skills including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Experience with point-of-sale reporting and IBM cash register functions.
• Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication; effective teamwork.
• Experience recruiting, interviewing and training staff, with legal compliance.
• Adherence to cash, safety, and loss-prevention policies.
• Great attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
• Location-based preference for bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire and retain qualified employees per laws and policies.
• Train staff, conduct evaluations, and address performance gaps.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations regularly; lead meetings.
• Open and close the store per schedule; ensure proper staffing.
• Monitor sales, profitability, inventory, and shrink; adjust planning as needed.
• Manage ordering to hit in-stock targets and handle cycles/counts.
• Ensure proper staging, stocking, and display of merchandise.
• Maintain accurate inventory and cash control procedures.
• Provide outstanding customer service leadership and store safety.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time per guidelines.
