Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager in the United States to oversee all store operations, staffing, training, and compliance. You will lead recruitment, performance reviews, and safety initiatives while ensuring in-stock targets and proper merchandising across the store.

You will drive daily cash handling integrity, inventory control, and customer service excellence in a fast-paced retail environment, with responsibility for opening/closing and staff development.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as percentages and totals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to labor laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; address gaps with solutions or counseling.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed each day.
• Open the store at least twice weekly and close it at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify trends, profitability, and expenses.
• Order to meet in-stock targets; review ordering plan and inventory weekly; follow up on stock replenishment.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to practices; manage pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels; control damages and shrink.
• Ensure financial integrity through cash control and security practices.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized store environment.
• Ensure store is equipped with tools required to perform tasks.
• Follow SOPs and company policies; ensure employee compliance.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
