Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, and store operations at neighborhood locations. This role develops external candidates toward the Store Manager role for a limited period.

The position emphasizes leadership, customer service, cash handling, and adherence to company policies, with a focus on merchandise presentation, safety, and daily store functions.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Knows cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Familiar with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Able to recruit, interview, and hire staff within policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management and audits.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in opening and closing the store.
• Ensure security and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and efficiency.
• Complete paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
