Job Summary

PetSmart’s Store Leader oversees safety, pet parent experience, operations, financial outcomes, and HR functions within the store. The role involves providing leadership, driving company culture, achieving results, championing service, and upholding company values and strategies.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

People Leadership
  • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and terminating staff.
  • Creating an open-door culture by engaging with associates and responding to feedback.
  • Scheduling and managing team development, recognition, and performance reviews.
  • Delegating tasks, empowering staff, and fostering ownership.
  • Addressing grievances and recognizing engagement.
Overall Store Experience
  • Leading the associate and pet parent experience, ensuring safety and health of pets.
  • Building a positive store environment and improving processes.
  • Partnering with community groups and maintaining store standards.
  • Ensuring safety, compliance, and inventory management.
  • Managing safety protocols, including monitoring store cameras and responding to incidents.
Business Management
  • Executing corporate strategy and profitability goals.
  • Analyzing reports, driving growth, and managing expenses.
  • Creating schedules, managing payroll, and handling store operations.
Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of retail leadership or customer-focused experience.
  • Full-time availability, flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and strong communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Supervisory Responsibility

Oversees Experience Leaders, Process Leaders, and associates, following company policies and procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to pet-related environments. Accommodations can be provided for disabilities.
