Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, lead staff, manage ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising and customer service. You will open and close the store, monitor sales and inventory, and ensure safety and policy compliance.

The role requires high school diploma (preferred) and retail management experience; you will recruit, train and evaluate employees, enforce labor laws, and maintain cash control and loss prevention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to recruit, hire, and train qualified applicants.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions or counseling.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events to ensure safety and policy compliance.
• Ensure that the store is opened and closed properly each day.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify trends, expenses, shrink, and errors; monitor inventory targets and cycle counts.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following company processes.
• Ensure merchandise is presented with correct pricing and signage; maintain inventory accuracy and cash control.
