Job summary

Variety Wholesalers, Inc. in Cumberland, MD is seeking an Assistant Manager/Key Carrier to support store operations and deliver exceptional customer service. You will help the Store Manager with daily tasks to achieve company deliverables and ensure smooth store performance.

The role requires leadership, reliability, and the ability to supervise hourly staff, manage opening/closing procedures, and protect store assets while upholding company standards.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills
• Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise up to 50lbs
• Flexible, full-time or part-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager
• Assist in protecting and securing company assets, including cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines
• Maintain a professional environment with customers and staff
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards including recovery
• Direct supervision for hourly Team Members when the Store Manager is not present
• Process all corporate directives
• Assist in receipt/return of DSD merchandise
• Assist in managing freight flow
• Meet or exceed productivity standards
• Assist in ordering and stocking merchandise needs
• Maintain stockroom organization
• Ensure sales floor is optimized daily
• Plan and implement directives from Store Operations Weekly Bulletin
