Job summary

Variety Wholesalers, Inc. seeks an Assistant Manager/Key Carrier at our Fayetteville, NC location to lead customer service and support the Store Manager in daily operations. You will help hire/train staff, oversee opening/closing, protect assets, and ensure stockroom and sales floor meet company standards.

The role requires strong communication, leadership in a fast-paced retail environment, and flexibility to cover days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to lift, bend and transport merchandise weighing up to 50lbs; frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling and repetitive lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager
• Open and close procedures in the absence of the Store Manager
• Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies, procedures and safety guidelines
• Maintain a professional, friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards including recovery
• Direct hourly Team Members when Store Manager is not on site
• Process SSC Corporate directives
• Assist in receipt/return of DSD merchandise and freight flow management
• Meet/exceed productivity standards
• Assist in ordering and stocking merchandise and maintaining stockroom organization
• Ensure daily sales floor effectiveness and implement Store Operations directives
