Job summary

andyfrain is seeking a Retail Security Officer to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors at Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News, VA.

This part-time position requires attentiveness, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset, with overnight and weekend shifts and weekly pay.

Responsibilities include patrols, access control, incident reporting, CCTV monitoring, and assisting customers and staff while complying with post orders.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to stay alert and respond calmly in emergencies.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
• Ability to write clear and accurate reports.
• Professional appearance and demeanor required.
• State Guard license is required.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas or maintain a fixed post to monitor activity.
• Control access points and manage pedestrian/vehicle traffic.
• Identify and report suspicious activity, incidents, or safety concerns.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and on-site incidents.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and security systems.
• Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and required documentation.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings at all times.
• Follow all post orders, company policies, and safety procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency response protocols.
• Inspect property for safety risks (fire hazards, equipment issues, etc.).
• Support loss prevention and recommend safety improvements.
• Greet and assist customers, employees, and visitors in a professional manner.
• Provide directions and support as needed.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence on-site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Security & Patrol
