Job summary

The Salvation Army's Stevens Creek Thrift Store in San Jose is seeking a part-time Sales Associate/Material Handler. You will greet customers and donors, operate the POS system, stock merchandise, and process donations while maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment.

This role offers the chance to contribute to the community, gain customer-service experience, and work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent is required.
• Must be able to operate POS/Cash Register.
• Must pass background check, incl. Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors and provide prompt, courteous assistance.
• Stock priced items on the sales floor per Salvation Army standards.
• Sort donations for processing per Salvation Army standards.
• Maintain store cleanliness and organization; perform cleaning duties as assigned.
• Follow POS/Cash Register policies in accordance with TSA.
• Maintain safety standards and report hazards to managers.
• Attend required Monthly Store Meetings.
• Work flexible part-time shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Receive, unload and stock incoming inventory items.
• Inspect products for defects and damages to ensure quality.
• Assist donors with removal of donated items and provide receipts.
• Sort donated material and place into correct containers.
• Other duties as assigned by Store Manager and District Manager.
