Job summary

The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, a department of Florida State University, is seeking a Retail Sales Associate for a temporary, part-time OPS role. You will greet visitors, assist with product selections, and process sales at the register in a dynamic gallery store environment.

Based in Sarasota, FL, the role requires weekend and evening availability and involves lifting up to 25 lbs. Prior retail experience is preferred, with basic POS knowledge encouraged.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this role include:

• Provide excellent, enthusiastic customer service to visitors.
• Proactively seek out and assist visitors in greeting and product selections.
• Learning the store's products and the story behind the product.
• Answering general visitor inquiries in person or via the phone.
• Processing sales at the register.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Processing shipping orders and returns.
• Helping maintain the store's appearance, including dusting, straightening, restocking, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb a small step ladder, stock products on high and low shelves, and often lift up to 25 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous retail experience
• Ability to learn a computer based point-of-sale system

Anticipated Salary Range

$15.45 (24 hours a week)

Considerations

• This is an OPS/temporary job.
• Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check.
• Work Location: Sarasota, FL
• Employees are required to adhere to the business dress standards.
• If selected for an interview, a work sample will be administered.

Working Hours

• Shift typically starts at 9:30 AM, three days a week, but varies based on the needs of The Ringling.
• Please note this role's hours include weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.
