Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) engages with pet parents and their pets, providing positive experiences and upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. Responsibilities include store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care.

Job Responsibilities

• Enhance the pet parent experience in person, over the phone, at the register, and online.
• Greet pet parents and answer questions.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup.
• Care for store-owned pets, including feeding, watering, and cleaning habitats.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards.
• Support pricing changes and promotional activities.
• Organize and display new products.
• Replenish and recover products on the sales floor.
• Recommend and sell merchandise, services, and live pets.
• Administer pet medications as directed by a veterinarian.
• Promote events like adoptions and charity events.
• Ensure a safe environment for staff, pets, and customers.
• Take immediate action for sick or injured pets, including transport to the vet.
• Assist in various store areas as needed.
• Participate in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to react calmly under pressure.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and handle objects; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear; vision abilities include depth perception.
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently; team lift more than 100 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, and moderate noise; handling live animals is common.
