Job summary

Publix Super Markets is seeking a Safety Specialist to support Retail Safety initiatives across the Atlanta division. You will lead safety improvements, reduce injury incidents, and ensure OSHA compliance across roughly half the division’s locations.

The role requires strong investigative, analytical and communication skills, along with willingness to travel and work long hours. Based in Atlanta, GA, you will report to the Divisional Retail Safety Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent experience.
• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
• Three (3) years in a retail or industrial safety role or Publix retail management experience.
• OSHA 511 Certified or willing to certify within 90 days.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry Standards, State Safety Statute(s), and local codes.
• Ability to prepare well written reports and corrective action plans.
• Knowledge of injury investigation and root-causation analysis.
• MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present data clearly.
• Willingness to work a minimum of 45 hours per week and travel with overnight stays.
• Must work from Atlanta Divisional Offices and reside within ~1 hour.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to reduce workers’ compensation and general liability incidents in assigned stores.
• Assist the Divisional Retail Safety Supervisor in contributing to net profit objectives through safety actions.
• Communicate safety plans and KPI results to divisions, RBUs, and RISs.
• Represent Publix in regulatory inspections and with OSHA when needed.
• Conduct serious injury investigations and prepare detailed reports; interface with OSHA.
