Retail Banking Sales & Service

Delivers exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. Identifies customer needs and provides advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Works collaboratively within the branch and with BMO partners to deliver the desired customer experience and achieve overall business objectives.

Regulatory Requirements (U.S. Only):

This position will act as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. It requires Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. The Bank will guide you on registration requirements. A criminal background review and credit history evaluation will be conducted, along with restrictions on performing in a real estate agent capacity.

Responsibilities:
  1. Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects, providing needs-based assessments to grow loyalty and identify opportunities.
  2. Conduct needs assessments to identify financial solutions and preferred banking channels, recommending tailored solutions for sales and service needs.
  3. Advise clients on digital and self-serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
  4. Support customer transactions based on traffic and needs.
  5. Grow BMO’s business by reaching out, generating appointments, and building community relationships.
  6. Address questions and resolve issues, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  7. Apply risk management frameworks to protect assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  8. Make credit recommendations for personal lending, including home financing, following sound principles and policies.
  9. Collaborate effectively within the branch and market teams.
  10. Understand customer needs and incorporate marketing promotions into conversations.
  11. Organize work information for accuracy and completeness.
  12. Innovate to personalize customer experiences and improve branch service.
  13. Contribute to business results and overall customer experience.
  14. Work at multiple branches as needed, with flexible schedules.
  15. Follow risk and compliance policies to safeguard assets and privacy.
  16. Stay informed on marketplace, legal, and regulatory developments.
  17. Maintain knowledge of products, practices, and trends.
  18. Report suspicious activity related to money laundering.
  19. Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  20. Handle complex tasks and escalations as needed.
  21. Analyze issues and determine next steps.
  22. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience; post-secondary education preferred or equivalent.
  2. For Canada: Investment product sales registration completed.
  3. Relevant lending qualifications and designations.
  4. Knowledge of personal and small business customer needs and solutions.
  5. Experience with retail investments and lending products.
  6. Financial services experience is an asset.
  7. Proficient with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
  8. Experience in customer service or sales with a focus on personal service.
  9. Strong commitment to helping customers.
  10. Results-oriented with a team-based approach.
  11. Resourceful, confident, and proactive in customer engagement.
  12. Collaborative team player.
  13. Excellent interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Compensation:

Salary: $41,715.00 - $63,700.00

Pay Type: Salaried

Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications, and may include commissions. Part-time roles are pro-rated.
