Job Family Group: Retail Banking Sales & Service

Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects by identifying their needs and providing advice on financial solutions that are in their best interests. Collaborate within the branch and with BMO partners to ensure a positive customer experience and meet business objectives.

Note for U.S. applicants: This position involves acting as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. It requires federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, a criminal background check, and a credit review. Restrictions may apply regarding real estate agent activities.

  • Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects, providing needs-based assessments to foster loyalty and identify opportunities.
  • Conduct needs assessments to recommend tailored financial solutions, including banking, investments, lending, and small business solutions.
  • Advise clients on digital and self-serve banking options to enhance convenience.
  • Support customer transactions and address inquiries to ensure satisfaction.
  • Expand BMO’s business by generating appointments and building community relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and lending policies during credit audits and application processes.
  • Apply risk management principles to protect assets and maintain portfolio quality.
  • Make credit recommendations for personal lending, including home financing, aligned with sound credit principles.
  • Work as part of a collaborative branch and market team.
  • Understand customer needs and incorporate marketing promotions into conversations.
  • Organize work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Find creative ways to personalize each customer’s experience and improve overall branch service.
  • Contribute to achieving business results and enhancing customer experience.
  • May work at multiple branches with varying schedules based on market needs.
  • Follow risk and compliance policies to safeguard assets and customer privacy.
  • Stay informed about marketplace trends, legal and regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of banking products and trends, integrating them into customer interactions.
  • Identify and report suspicious activities related to money laundering.
  • Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle complex tasks and escalations as needed, analyzing issues to determine next steps.

    Qualifications:

    • Typically 2-3 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
    • For Canada: Completion of registration to sell investment products, as appropriate for the jurisdiction.
    • Relevant lending qualifications and designations.
    • Knowledge of personal and small business customer needs and solutions.
    • Experience with retail investments and lending products is an asset.
    • Comfort with social media, tablets, smartphones, and online tools.
    • Experience in customer service or sales with a focus on personal experiences.
    • Strong interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and adaptable skills.
    • Effective communication and organizational skills.
    • Teamwork and collaboration skills.

    Salary: $45,900.00 - $73,700.00
