Jones Road Beauty was founded by makeup artist Bobbi Brown on the philosophy that the world doesn’t need more beauty products. It needs better beauty products. Clean, strategic, high-grade formulations that work on every skin type and tone—and that are as simple to use as they are to master. Jones Road is a lifetime of beauty knowledge, distilled.
About the role
The Retail Project Manager is a driving force behind the growth of our retail business. This role owns the end-to-end execution of new store openings—and, just as importantly, keeps the existing fleet moving forward by project managing new product launches, visual merchandising updates, and operational initiatives across every door.
As we scale, this role builds the infrastructure that scale requires: the playbooks, policies, systems, and processes that make each opening faster than the last and each fleet-wide rollout land consistently in every store. The Retail Project Manager partners closely with Store Leadership, Visual, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Finance, and reports to the Director of Retail Operations.
What you’ll do
New Store Openings
- Manage the end-to-end project plan for all new store openings, including pre-opening, opening week, and post-opening wrap-up.
- Create and manage detailed project timelines, checklists, and milestones to ensure all teams stay on track.
- Facilitate weekly cross-functional touch-base calls and maintain project trackers.
- Monitor progress, identify risks or delays, and escalate issues to the Director of Retail Operations with proposed solutions.
- Support in coordinating new store rollouts, including sourcing of materials, products, and supplies, ensuring stores have the resources needed to meet project demands.
- Assist in coordinating logistics between vendors to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain detailed records of project plans, contracts, change orders, and final project deliverables.
- Prepare and distribute all pre-opening operational materials, including opening checklists, staffing plans, SOPs, inventory plans, and training schedules.
- Partner with Store Leadership and the Visual team to ensure all merchandising, operational equipment, and supplies arrive on time.
- Coordinate fixture deliveries, equipment orders, merchandising timelines, and staffing readiness with relevant partners.
- Assist with managing and tracking new store opening budgets, invoices, and cost estimates.
- Conduct post-opening debriefs and capture learnings that improve the next opening.
- Project manage new product launches across the existing fleet—building launch timelines, coordinating visual assets and product delivery, and ensuring every store is set and sell-ready on launch day.
- Partner with the creative team to plan and execute seasonal and launch-driven visual merchandising updates, translating creative direction into clear, executable store-level guidance.
- Manage vendors and coordinate the sourcing, production, and distribution of props, signage, testers, collateral, and supplies for fleet-wide moments.
- Build and distribute VM guides, planograms, launch kits, and execution checklists tailored to each store’s footprint.
- Track execution across doors through photo submissions, compliance checks, and store visits; follow up on gaps and share results with retail leadership.
- Serve as a central point of communication between the field and HQ, ensuring stores receive clear, consolidated direction rather than competing asks.
Operational Management
- Implement and optimize store operations processes, policies, and procedures, ensuring they are scalable and consistent across all locations.
- Evaluate and help implement retail tools and systems (task management, scheduling, communication, inventory) that improve store team efficiency.
- Support in managing the retail budget, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Maintain organized project documentation, including playbooks, templates, vendor lists, and shared folders.
- Provide weekly status updates to internal stakeholders and leadership, and build reporting that gives leadership visibility into project and fleet health.
- Work in tandem with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive execution of projects across channels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4–5 years of experience in retail operations, new store openings, construction project management, or multi-store program management.
- Experience rolling out initiatives across a multi-store fleet—product launches, visual merchandising updates, or operational programs.
- Solid understanding of store planning, retail operations, construction processes, and visual merchandising.
- Demonstrated experience building or improving processes, SOPs, or systems—not just executing existing ones.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously against competing deadlines.
- Comfort with budget tracking, invoicing, and vendor management.
- Proficiency with project management and communication tools (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet, Google Workspace, Slack); experience with retail systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage up, down, and across departments.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Natural problem-solver with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to travel to store locations, including during opening weeks and key launch moments.
