Job Description

Job Title: Retail Product & Pricing Specialist

Department: Grocery

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

Maintains the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability. Ensures products are available to the customer in a timely manner and all item parameters are accurately maintained in the product management software.

Reporting Relations

Accountable and Reports to: District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations and eCommerce

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive attitude and foster teamwork and friendliness.
• Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service, greeting customers warmly and engaging with them.
• Ensure department standards for customer service, cleanliness, and profitability are met.
• Assist customers with their needs, including product guidance, handling out-of-reach items, loading heavy items, and noting customer suggestions.
• Assist management with profit analysis and reporting.
• Maintain accurate inventory information and utilize product management software to minimize stockouts and overstocks.
• Ensure correct pricing and signage for all items, including promotional and everyday low-price items.
• Manage special buys and ensure inventory accuracy in product management applications.
• Perform inventory and pricing verification according to company policies.
• Coordinate with upper management on product placement and resets to ensure timely presentation.
• Reduce obsolete and discontinued inventory for quick sale and minimize excess inventory.
• Monitor and report damages or unsaleable items and implement solutions.
• Transmit replenishment and ad orders promptly.
• Update prices and product information in a timely manner.
• Support department managers with product management questions.
• Work with vendors on invoice reconciliation and product delivery.
• Adhere to personal hygiene and dress codes, and follow company policies.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts.

Secondary Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist in other store areas as needed.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Worker Characteristics

• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Basic arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to interview, guide, and follow instructions from manuals and supervisors.

Education And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; 6 months to 1 year of related experience preferred; strong math skills required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to over 20 feet, with or without correction, including depth and color perception.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to noise, occasional temperature extremes and hazards, and a fast-paced environment with deadlines.

Financial Responsibility

Responsible for company assets including equipment and merchandise.
