Job summary

• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail environment - preferred.
• Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement - preferred.
• Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology - preferred.
• Experience with a prescription management system, e.g., Pioneer - is a plus.
• National Certification is an asset and rewarded with increased PTO and pay.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting Pharmacists in the safe distribution of medications and the provision of pharmaceutical care.
• Sterilize surfaces and equipment and prepare the pharmacy for opening
• Greet customers and answer questions
• Receive prescriptions and check their validity
• Enter and process prescriptions into the pharmacy system, where permitted by pharmacy regulations, and only at the direction of the supervising pharmacist after their review of the prescription in accordance with Company policy and federal/state regulations
• Ensure all information regarding patient and prescription is complete and accurate
• Resolve issues when they arise, e.g., rejected insurance claims
• Select the appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions
• Sort, stock, label medication and monitor inventory
• Undertake administrative tasks, e.g., record-keeping, as needed
• Comply with all security measures and quality standards
• Other work tasks as assigned by Management
