Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a Retail Pharmacist to oversee accurate dispensing of prescriptions and provide counseling to patients on prescription and non-prescription medications. You will adhere to federal and state laws, protect patient information, and collaborate with medical staff to optimize pharmacotherapy.

Schedule includes weekdays with rotating shifts and weekend coverage; required Iowa pharmacist license and PharmD or B.S.

Qualifications

• Completion of the requirements for a B.S. or PharmD in Pharmacy at an accredited college of pharmacy is required.
• A current State of Iowa Pharmacist license is required.
• Maintenance of continuing education credits every 2 years as required by the Iowa State Board of Pharmacy.
• Previous practical experience in a retail or ambulatory care pharmacy is preferred.
• Certification in Immunization Administration is preferred.
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Dispenser of prescribed and non-prescription medications with accuracy and safety.
• Counsel patients on medications and health information.
• Adhere to professional standards, laws, and Trinity Health policies.
• Assist in training staff and interns and participate in inventory management and audits.
• Support on-call and weekend rotation responsibilities and ensure HIPAA compliance.
