Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is seeking a Retail Pharmacist responsible for accurate dispensing of prescriptions and counseling patients on their medications, while upholding our Model of Caring. This full-time, day-shift role participates in policies, regulatory compliance, inventory management, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and staff to support safe, effective patient care.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. or PharmD in Pharmacy from an accredited college.
• Current Iowa Pharmacist license.
• Maintain continuing education credits as required by the Iowa State Board of Pharmacy.
• Previous practical experience in a retail or ambulatory care pharmacy preferred.
• Certification in Immunization Administration preferred.
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Dispenses medications accurately and counsels patients on their prescription and OTC products.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and pharma policies.
• Communicates effectively with patients and staff, protecting patient information.
• Maintains inventory and safety of medications, including controlled substances.
• Participates in training, quality initiatives, and on-call rotations.
• Adheres to MercyOne's Code of Conduct and Model of Caring.
