Job description

Goodwill is a leading non-profit organization in Southern California, dedicated to our Mission, our people, and our future. We are seeking a Retail Operations Manager responsible for the efficient operation of a Retail Store, Boutique, or Attended Donation Center (ADC). The manager will lead a team to meet goals related to sales, customer service, safety, and expenses, collaborating closely with the Site Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Perform manager on duty activities, including opening and closing, cash register management, and team leadership to meet company standards.
2. Provide excellent service, engage with ambassadors, customers, and donors, and model Goodwill’s Mission and Values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence).
3. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, following all safety policies and procedures.
4. Train and coach ambassadors on de-escalation and loss prevention procedures.
5. Communicate concerns to the District Manager when necessary.
6. Supervise staff, including training, scheduling, performance reviews, and addressing issues.
7. Monitor and maintain store standards, including safety, equipment, and cleanliness.
8. Train and evaluate staff in processing donations, ecommerce items, and backroom procedures, ensuring compliance with SOPs.
9. Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and possibly at nearby locations.

Education & Experience

1. 1-3 years of supervisory experience in customer-focused management roles.
2. High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
3. Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Outlook and electronic survey platforms.
4. Strong communication, training, and people skills.
5. Bilingual in Spanish is helpful.
6. Ability to handle confidential information and multitask effectively.
7. Punctual, dependable, and free from substance abuse.
