Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors in Houston is launching a Manager in Training (MIT) program designed to immerse you in every facet of a high-volume retail business. You will rotate through store departments to see how merchandising, staffing, inventory, and customer experience connect to performance.

You will work with store leadership to drive sales, service, and operational excellence, learn to analyze metrics, plan labor, and adjust priorities in real time, and grow toward full store leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant leadership or management experience.
• Experience leading departments of up to 40 team members.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for a great shopping experience.
• Solid business acumen with ability to analyze performance metrics.
• Ability to complete required certifications including Firearms Sales and Power Industrial Truck.
• Comfort auditing firearm sales and ATF form processes.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through store departments to understand merchandising, staffing, inventory, and customer experience.
• Partner with store leadership to develop and execute strategies that drive sales, service, and operational excellence.
• Learn to analyze performance metrics, plan labor effectively, and adjust priorities in real time.
• Prepare for promotion into a Manager role through hands-on leadership development.
