Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, organized store with a customer-first focus. You will assist with supervision of staff, merchandise presentation, deposits, and operational paperwork, while protecting assets and maximizing profitability.

Responsibilities include leading customer service, opening/closing the store part of the week, training employees, managing stock, handling cash controls, and stepping in for the Store Manager when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year of retail experience and 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to follow cash handling and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow procedures to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Assist with planograms and merchandise presentation as directed.
• Ensure store cash accountability and deposits; handle refunds and overrides.
• Assist in managing the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
