Job summary

SpartanNash is seeking an experienced department manager to lead daily store operations in Elkhart, IN. You will oversee staffing, training, inventory, and customer service to meet company standards and KPIs.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and the ability to plan schedules, control labor and payroll, and ensure food safety and loss prevention across the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to lead, train and develop associates; manage schedules and payroll.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day department operations in the store.
• Oversee staffing, training, and career development of associates.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and rotation to maintain freshness and quality.
• Review orders for accuracy and ensure proper storage.
• Uphold food safety, safety, and company policy adherence.
• Set and monitor department goals and forecasts; communicate plans in daily huddles.
