Job summary

Scheels in Bismarck, ND is seeking a customer-focused sales associate to join our team. You will greet customers, assess needs, recommend products, and promote the Scheels Visa to enhance the shopping experience.

Responsibilities include achieving personal sales goals, maintaining appealing displays, assisting with freight and stock, and participating in training sessions. Flexible scheduling and part-time hours are available, with strong emphasis on teamwork and integrity.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 months of sales experience.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and handheld scanners.
  • Familiarity with Scheels processes and credit promotions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers on the sales floor with courtesy and respond to inquiries.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by assessing needs, recommending products, and promoting the Scheels Visa Credit Card.
  • Grow personal sales by meeting set goals and following Scheels' professional sales standards.
  • Create a positive end-user experience based on the products the customer is purchasing.
  • Maintain a high standard of visual merchandising and assist with freight processing and inventory restocking.
  • Attend product trainings and store meetings; assist in training new associates.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet all customers on the sales floor with genuine courtesy and a smile, to ensure they feel welcomed the moment they enter your shop
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by seeking out and engaging with customers, going through the steps of the sale to determine their needs, recommending appropriate products, and promoting the Scheels Visa Credit Card
  • Grow personal sales by consistently hitting set goals and following Scheels' professional salesmanship standards and the steps of the sale to provide an above-and-beyond customer experience
  • Create a positive end-user experience based on the products the customer is purchasing
  • Maintain a high standard of visual merchandising and support the team with freight processing and inventory restocking
  • Ability to demonstrate product usage within their shop and retrieve product from heights of greater than 6 ft
  • Attend all required Scheels product training and all store meetings
  • Assist in the training of new associates in the areas of the store's expertise
  • Ability to navigate a personal computer and a handheld inventory computer/scanner. Programs include: Microsoft Office, Google Email / Docs, and AS400
  • Assist in all other assigned duties by the leadership team

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-3 months of sales experience

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Scheels cares about the health and safety of our Associates. Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.

Schedule:

  • Must be flexible to work an assigned shift scheduled between 5pm-9pm Monday through Friday, 9am-7pm Saturday and 11am-6pm Sunday
  • Must be available minimum two weekends per month: Typically scheduled 1-2 nights per week and an every other weekend rotation
  • Average hours per week: 20-25 hours
