Scheels is hiring a cashier at our Bismarck location. You will greet customers, scan items, process payments, and balance the cash drawer while providing a personalized shopping experience.

You’ll promote Scheels Visa and enroll customers in digital receipts, ensuring a smooth checkout and friendly service throughout shifts. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (or GED) and 1–3 months of cashiering experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service or retail is a plus.
  • Cash handling and basic math accuracy are important.
  • Friendly, proactive service with a smile helps drive digital receipt programs.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers entering the store and provide personalized service.
  • Scan items, ensure accurate payment, and balance cash drawer.
  • Promote Scheels Visa and explain benefits; encourage digital receipts enrollment.
  • Maintain clean checkout area and restock as needed.
  • Operate the register following cash handling policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
  • Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
  • Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
  • Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
  • Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
  • Ask every customer to sign up for digital receipts
  • End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
  • Perform basic math, calculate discounts, make change, and accurately balance the cash drawer
  • Operate the computerized register system and follow all cash handling policies
  • Maintain an awareness of in-store events and promotions
  • Keep the checkout area stocked and clean
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred
Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Scheels cares about the health and safety of our Associates. Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.

Schedule:

Associate must be flexible to work assigned schedule. Must be available 2 nights per week (4:45pm-9:00pm) and must be available a minimum of two weekends per month. Average hours per week: 15-25 Hours. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
